Government Commits to Financial Services and Economic Crime Reform

By Najiyya Budaly (May 10, 2022, 3:30 p.m. BST) – The UK government on Tuesday unveiled plans to advance a legislative agenda to revamp its financial market regulation and tackle economic crime, including bills that will grant powers to govern digital finance and a scandal-ridden accounting sector.

The plans were set out in the Queen’s Speech – delivered to lawmakers by Prince Charles, who stood in for the Queen – setting out the government’s legislative agenda for the next parliamentary session.

The Government Financial Services and Markets Bill, which has already been announced, and the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Bill have been included on the legislative agenda….
