HJ Sims expands its investment banking and education finance team with the introduction of new members


FAIRFIELD, Conn., August 23, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — HJ Sims (sims), a private investment bank and wealth management firm founded in 1935, is pleased to announce the addition of four investment bankers, expanding its education finance teamwhich provides comprehensive capital planning, structure and execution for charter schools, public and private education systems and institutions.

HJ Sims is pleased to announce the addition of four investment bankers, expanding its education finance team.

Kaiti Wang joined sims as Vice President of Education Finance, offering charter school finance expertise and credit analysis experience. Kaiti obtained her baccalaureate at University of California, Berkeley, then at S&P Global Ratings where she developed her experience in public finance rating analysis. She served as Loan officer with the Local Initiatives Support Corporation and as a program officer for the Spark Opportunity Grant program to become more directly involved in helping charter schools meet their financial and facilities goals.

Kyle Ficker joined sims as a Senior Associate, supporting investment banking teams dedicated to Senior Living and Education Finance. Kyle attended the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, where he graduated in economics. Having previously worked with Truist Securities, Kyle brings his public finance expertise through a skilled analysis of the many requirements to execute tax-exempt and taxable debt financings and complete capital planning engagements.

Shannon Falcon joined sims as Vice President, further developing the practice of education finance. She earned a degree in public policy from the University of Southern California and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Florida Business school. Recruited by Teach for America to educate high school students in math, she later moved into commercial banking before joining the Equitable Facilities Fund where she helped the nonprofit lender provide facilities loans to dozens charter schools. To date, Shannon has closed over $200 million in loans to charter schools, which help serve more than 6,000 students a year.

Seth Wagner joined sims as a senior vice president within the investment banking team, responsible for financings for the Senior Living and Education Finance practices. Seth graduated from Sydney Hampden College in Virginia with a degree in economics and commerce. Subsequently, Seth pursued a career in finance where he spent over seven years at BB&T Capital Markets (now Truist Securities) in various progressive analyst, banking and executive roles. To date, Seth has played a leading role in over 30 fundraising projects totaling over $2 billion in funding.
