iM Global Partner further strengthened its position in the US asset management market with an agreement for a minority stake in asset allocation boutique Richard Bernstein Advisors (RBA).

It is iM Global’s latest venture in North America, having already signed deals with credit specialist Dolan McEniry, Polen Capital, Scharf Investments, Dynamic Beta Investments, Litman Gregory and Sirios Capital Management.

He took a 45% position in RBA, which is based in New York and manages $14.6bn (£10.5bn) in assets. Terms of the deal had not been disclosed at the time of publication.

RBA was founded in 2009 by Richard Bernstein and covers ETF allocation for separately managed accounts. iM Global said RBA works with a top-down approach, which combines proprietary macroeconomic research with quantitative analysis.

The firm’s investment team is highly experienced, with members averaging 27 years in the industry. She will continue to manage operations independently and manage portfolios using the same philosophy and approach developed in 2009.

Philippe Couvrecelle, Founder and CEO of iM Global Partner, said, “RBA is a great addition to our partner network and their expertise is widely recognized in the United States.

“RBA will provide our clients with exceptional expertise in asset allocation portfolios with a unique top-down macro approach that has proven to be highly effective in all phases of the market cycle. The partnership not only demonstrates the breadth and vision of our global network, but also underscores our deep commitment to the US market.

iM Global Partner has grown significantly over the past two years, including a deal for Syz Group’s Luxembourg asset management arm, Oyster Funds, in early 2020.

Earlier this month, Barings announced it would further support iM Global Partner’s efforts with access to a €120 million acquisition facility. This is to fund future transactions and growth.
