BOSTON, September 20, 2022 /PRNewswire/ – John Hancock Investment Management, a Manulife Investment Management company, today announced the appointment of four new directors to the board of directors of the John Hancock Group of Funds, including three new independent directors. The new directors have extensive combined experience in financial services, regulatory and compliance management, technology and evolving investor markets, while collectively providing strategic direction on the future of fund management . The new trustees are:

Noni L. Ellison — Ms. Ellison is currently Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary at Tractor Supply Company and has over 25 years of executive, legal and compliance leadership experience. In addition to managing Tractor Supply’s legal department, she also oversees risk management, government relations, licensing and quality assurance/customs compliance, as well as corporate environmental, social and governance efforts. Ms. Ellison received her Bachelor of Arts from Howard University, magna cum laude. She earned her law degree and MBA from University of Chicago.

Dean Garfield — Mr. Garfield is currently Vice President of Public Policy and a member of the Executive Team at Netflix, where he oversees global public policy and regulatory affairs. Prior to joining Netflix in 2019, he held several executive positions in information technology and entertainment companies, providing significant global experience in operations, governance, regulation and leadership. He was nominated by President Obama, then reappointed by President Trump to the President’s Business Advisory Council and was recently appointed to the Department of Transportation’s Automation Advisory Committee. Mr. Garfield holds a Juris Doctor and a Masters of New York University School of Law and the Woodrow Wilson School of Public Administration and International Affairs in princeton university. He earned his undergraduate degree in English Language and Literature at Middlebury College.

Patricia Lizarraga — Ms. Lizarraga is currently Managing Partner of Hypatia Capital Group, an asset management firm that focuses on sponsoring female CEOs and investors. She has over 25 years of experience in global and corporate banking and has founded several successful businesses. Ms. Lizarraga has expertise in financial services and investment matters, as well as operations and risk monitoring. Ms. Lizarraga also has a strong background in corporate governance and regulation in the investment management industry. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, from Yale University and his MBA from Harvard Business School.

Paul Lorentz — Mr. Lorentz is a member of Manulife’s management team and President and Chief Executive Officer of Manulife Investment Management. He directly oversees global wealth and asset management businesses, including retirement, retail and asset management solutions for investors worldwide. Prior to his current role, Mr. Lorentz was Managing Director of Wealth Management and Individual Insurance for the Canadian division of Manulife and held various positions of increasing responsibility across the firm’s Canadian operations. Mr. Lorentz is a Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries and earned his undergraduate degree in mathematics at University of Waterloo.
