William Blair continues investment banking growth with the addition of a managing director

William Blair, the world’s first boutique specializing in investment banking, investment management and private wealth management, recently announced the arrival of Jim Conniff as Managing Director of the firm’s Investment Banking Group. Based in the company’s Chicago office, Conniff joins the Industrial Growth Products (IGP) team, bringing over 25 years of experience focused on large industrial growth companies across a wide range of specialized verticals, delivering advice and representation to clients on mergers and acquisitions and capital-raising assignments. Conniff has extensive experience working with founder/entrepreneur-owned and private equity industrial clients.

Conniff’s career spans over two decades, focusing on mergers and acquisitions, corporate divestitures, equity opinions, anti-raid/defense, growth capital and debt offerings , and strategic consulting assignments in the industrial sector. Working closely with corporate clients and private equity firms, Conniff’s experience spans the industrial products landscape, with a particular focus on highly engineered products, specialty components and systems. Conniff has held senior positions at Goldman Sachs and Robert W. Baird & Co. and most recently served as Co-Head of Industry Group at Lazard Middle Market LLC. Conniff received his BS with Honors in Finance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
The addition of Conniff further contributes to the company’s rapid growth in investment banking. William Blair recently added four managing directors across all sectors – Dan Polsky (New York) as joint union head in the equity capital markets group, Mike Nelson (Denver) in FinTech, Neha Motwani and Rizwan Velji ( New York) in Life Sciences – as well as Shantha Ozgen (New York) as a Healthcare Specialist in Institutional Sales.
